Nature of Telehealth Care
Care provided by The Ontario Menopause Clinic is primarily delivered through virtual platforms (e.g., video, phone, secure messaging).
Virtual care has inherent limitations compared to in-person care.
No Physical Examinations or Procedures
Healthcare providers may not be able to:
- Perform physical examinations
- Obtain vital signs directly
- Conduct diagnostic procedures
This may limit the ability to fully assess certain conditions.
Diagnostic Limitations
Clinical decisions made through virtual care are based on:
- The information you provide
- Available medical records
- Clinical judgment within the constraints of telehealth
As a result:
- Diagnoses may be provisional
- Additional in-person assessment may be required
Technology Risks
Telehealth involves the use of electronic communication technologies, which carry risks, including:
- Technical failures or interruptions
- Delays in communication
- Unauthorized access despite security safeguards
Patient Responsibilities
By using telehealth services, you acknowledge that you are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete health information
- Informing your provider of any changes in your condition
- Seeking in-person or emergency care when advised
Appropriateness of Virtual Care
Your provider will determine whether virtual care is appropriate for your situation.
If virtual care is not appropriate, you may be advised to:
- Seek in-person assessment
- Follow up with your primary care provider
- Attend an emergency department
Continuity of Care
You are encouraged to maintain an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider.
The Ontario Menopause Clinic does not replace your family physician or primary care team.
Age Restriction
Our services are intended for adults. We do not provide care to individuals under the age of 18.
No Primary Care Services
We do not function as your primary care provider. You should maintain an ongoing relationship with a family physician or primary care provider for:
